Chronic Lyme Disease Complex Treatment
Going Beyond Standard Healthcare’s Antibiotic Treatment for a
Holistic Recovery from Lyme Disease
Those long bouts of debilitating joint pain, intermittent memory fog, and sudden seizures caused by Lyme disease, a
tick-borne infection, may not get resolved with standard antibiotic treatment alone. At Envita Medical Centers, an
Integrative Center of Excellence for Lyme Disease Treatment, we often see patients struggling to cope with their
symptoms despite receiving standard antibiotic treatment.

In our clinical experience of over 25 years, we have successfully treated thousands of Lyme disease patients with
persistent symptoms, which can often lead to physical or psychological impairment when the disease is not treated
holistically.

How Does Envita Offer Holistic Treatments for Lyme Disease?
Our expertise in Lyme disease treatment lies in identifying the coinfections and other factors which
complicate this
tick-borne disease. To address these unique set of factors affecting each individual patient, we use
personalized
proprietary treatments which combine advanced conventional and natural therapies.
The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) recommends oral or intravenous antibiotics as the standard
treatment for Lyme disease, but antibiotics alone may not be effective for many patients. In our peer-reviewed and
published article, "Chronic
Lyme Disease: Persistent Clinical Symptoms Related to Immune Evasion,
Antibiotic Resistance and Various Defense
Mechanisms of Borrelia burgdorferi," we explain how the bacteria Borrelia Burgdorferi, which causes Lyme
disease, is unique in its ability to reduce its
exposure to antibiotics in chronic patients. Due to this elusive feature of the bacteria, treating it with antibiotics
alone may not be comprehensive enough to counter Lyme disease.
Causes and Symptoms of Lyme Disease
Lyme disease is caused by the bacteria Borrelia burgdorferi, which generally gets transmitted through a tick
bite. It is
one of the most prevalent tick-transmitted infections in the United States.
When a deer tick, carrying the bacterial infection, bites a human, it can transmit this infectious disease,
along with a
variety of other disease-causing pathogens, such as viruses and other microorganisms. In certain instances,
patients may
notice a red “Bull’s eye” rash called Erythema Migrans, a few days after the infected tick bites them. Apart
from this
rash, some of the early symptoms of Lyme disease may include:
Headache
Fever
Exhaustion
Musculoskeletal Pain
In such cases of early Lyme disease, the IDSA
(Infectious Diseases Society of America) guidelines recommend an oral course of antibiotics for 10 to 14 days,
and 14 to 21 days antibiotic treatment for chronic
symptoms of neurologic Lyme.
While standard oral antibiotic treatment may be enough for early-stage Lyme disease, in our clinical experience,
antibiotics alone cannot effectively treat the chronic neurological and psychological symptoms, which often manifest
in
the later stage of the disease.
Chronic Symptoms
Many Lyme disease patients suffering with chronic symptoms have no recollection of developing a rash or even
receiving a
tick bite. In such cases, the bacteria B.burgdorferi spreads unchecked through the blood stream, at times going past
the
blood brain barrier, triggering a series of chronic symptoms, such as, facial palsy, muscle stiffness, or other
disorders of the central nervous system, called neuroborreliosis.
These chronic symptoms often manifest years after the tick-bite incident and mimic the signs of other neurological or
autoimmune disorders, which makes the diagnosis of Lyme disease difficult for inexperienced doctors.
At Envita, our Lyme disease experts have helped countless patients reclaim their life by identifying and treating the
root cause of their symptoms, which is often directly related to B.burgdorferi, the bacteria responsible for Lyme
disease, and its coinfections.
Difference Between Chronic Lyme Disease and Post-Treatment Lyme Disease Syndrome (PTLDS)
Lyme disease is not only challenging to diagnose, but despite diagnosis, effective treatment may be difficult if
healthcare providers do not tackle the infectious load often accompanying the disease. We have published extensively
about "Chronic Lyme Disease
Complex and Its Commonly Undiagnosed Primary and Secondary Co-infections," to help patients receive a proper
diagnosis and comprehensive treatment.
However, Chronic Lyme Disease Complex is different from Post-Lyme Disease
Syndrome (PLDS) , also called Post-Treatment Lyme Disease Syndrome (PTLDS). The CDC defines PTLDS as symptoms of
pain, fatigue, or
difficulty thinking that lasts for more than 6 months after treatment completion. In our clinical opinion, these
debilitating symptoms are experienced by patients whose Chronic Lyme Disease coinfections are left untreated, due to
the
lack of proper diagnosis and treatment.
Why Standard Healthcare Blood Tests May Not Detect Lyme Disease
Healthcare providers are sometimes compelled to treat presumptively because the standard blood tests may not
detect Lyme
disease or the accompanying co-infections accurately. Presumptive treatment does not help in uprooting the
Chronic Lyme
coinfections, which is why we see patients whose Lyme disease symptoms return a few weeks or months after
completing
treatment at standard healthcare facilities.
Standard healthcare providers utilize ELISA (Enzyme-linked immunosorbent assay) and Western Blot tests to
confirm the
diagnosis, but both tests depend on your immune system response. If your immune system is weakened due to any
reason,
such as heavy infectious load from Lyme coinfections, there are high chances of a false negative in this
two-tiered
test.
The ELISA test detects antibodies, a type of protein, generated by your immune system in response to the
bacterium B.
burgdorferi, but if your immune system is weakened then it will not produce the antibody, leading to a
false
negative
result.
Generally, if patients test negative in ELISA, they are not even recommended for the Western Blot, which
is a
confirmatory test to help in determining the presence or absence of certain proteins.
At Envita, we see many patients with chronic symptoms of Lyme disease who have been falsely testing negative for Lyme
in
ELISA or Western Blot, leading to misdiagnosis and ineffective treatment for years. Even the latest update to the Current Efforts in Lyme
Disease
Research report by the National Institute of Allergy and Infectious Diseases (NIAID), one of the institutes of
National Institute
of Health (NIH), highlights the need for improved Lyme disease diagnostics.
Lyme Disease May Lead to Cancer
The consequences of an unidentified Lyme infection can be severe, including prolonged hospital stays, chronic
symptoms,
and in certain cases trigger autoimmune disorders and cancers. Based on our clinical experience of treating cancer
patients for decades, we have published about how the bacteria B.burgdorferi can lead to cancers, in our medical study
titled "Cancer and
Infectious Causes".
To avoid such severe consequences, it is crucial to get an
accurate diagnosis and comprehensive treatment.

Envita’s Advanced Lyme Tests to Overcome Challenges in Diagnosis
At Envita, we utilize advanced genetic DNA Lyme tests to improve accuracy of detection of not just Lyme disease, but
other tick-borne pathogens and associated co-infections as well. Unlike standard blood tests, which detect antibodies
produced by your immune system in response to the Lyme bacteria, our specialized tests are not dependent on the
patient’s immune response. They are designed to detect the DNA/RNA of Lyme bacteria and other accompanying pathogens,
which often remain undetected in standard blood tests.
The advanced genetic DNA Lyme tests and the clinical experience of our specially trained team of Lyme Literate
Doctors serve as a powerful
combination to help patients progress towards a holistic recovery. Our physicians understand the complexities of Lyme
disease and how other infections like viral, fungal, and parasitic, often accompany Lyme disease, complicating the
process of diagnosis and treatment. Timely detection of these pathogens and understanding their impact on each
patient’s
immune system is a critical step for custom-designing comprehensive protocols for each individual Lyme patient.
Here is a Comparative Analysis of the Standard Healthcare Tests Vs. Envita’s PathoDNA

Focus on Advanced N-of-1 Clinical Trial Without Long-Term Antibiotic
Therapy
At Envita, we tackle all the above factors without prolonging antibiotic therapy for long durations. Our Lyme
literate
doctors are aware of the side effects of long-term antibiotic therapy, which could be a weakened immune system
activating other latent infections and aggravating disease symptoms.
To counter all these challenges, speed healing-time, and enhance patients’ quality of life, we focus on an advanced
N-of-1 treatment model, which is a single-subject clinical trial. In this model, we custom-built a treatment plan for
each individual patient to optimize benefits, unlike large sample clinical trials which focus on testing the efficacy
of
a new treatment.
Powerful Combination Treatments Developed by Lyme Literate Doctors (LLD)
Our treatment regimens combine the best of conventional and natural therapies, which are personalized to tackle each
patient’s unique set of Lyme disease coinfections. We may use a combination of our proprietary treatments, like IRAD
(Insulin Receptor Antibiotic Delivery), advanced immunotherapy, and next-level detoxing, depending on each patient’s
infectious load.
IRAD (Insulin Receptor Antibiotic Delivery)
We use IRAD to kill the pathogens, which cross the blood-brain barrier and attack your central nervous system. Simple
oral medication typically is not strong enough to penetrate the blood brain barrier, but IRAD, our proprietary
treatment, is deployed intravenously to help shuttle the antibiotics past the blood brain barrier into the central
nervous system. When patients manifest psychological or neurological symptoms, such as brain fog, memory loss, or
neuropathy, we generally use IRAD, along with other targeted treatments, to tackle their condition.
IRAD is a deeper delivery of selected antibiotics and targeted agents to treat neurological infections.
It addresses disruption in brain chemistry, caused by these neurotoxin releasing pathogens.
Balancing out the neurotransmitters can heal inflammation and improve sleep cycle, paving your road to recovery.

Advanced Immunotherapy
The immune system is your first and last defense against all diseases so strengthening it is extremely crucial for
holistic healing. Our immunotherapy is far more advanced than drinking smoothies and taking supplements, as we take it
to the next level in the following ways:
By administering adjunctive treatments, which can counter multi-drug resistance often seen in Chronic Lyme
Disease
coinfections.
We custom-design medicines at our in-house pharmacy based on advanced phytotherapeutics, including plant
extracts and
herbs, to reestablish the immune system.
Vitamins, minerals, amino acids, and antioxidants are also used to help in holistic recovery.
Next-Level Detoxing
Just killing the infection is not enough because sometimes their die-off may trigger additional symptoms, making
detoxing is a critical part of the treatment process, in most cases.
We clean and filter the blood through specialized cartridges used in a technologically advanced filtration
system.
Our detoxing process is designed to help filter and flush out any toxins, molds, heavy metals, and potentially
any
die-off of Lyme co-infections. The die-off can release neurotoxins into the body, which causes a Herxheimer
reaction, a
condition when symptoms worsen due to infection die-off. Flushing out the toxins helps reduce chances of
herxing.
These toxins decrease the efficacy of pain medications, as they compete for the same receptor sites in your
brain.
Flushing out the toxins helps patients respond better to pain medications which are helpful in relieving certain
symptoms of Lyme disease.
Biofilms protect the pathogens from the effect of oral antibiotics, which is why we strip them off with
integrative
agents, optimizing the impact of medicines.
