Dr. Daniel Warren of Envita Medical Centers Identifies Overlooked Lyme Factors on Lyme Time

You may be suffering from Lyme disease for years or decades before this vector-borne disease gets diagnosed. “Lot of people get tested for Lyme, but the diagnosis is missed,” said Dr. Daniel Warren, Lyme Literate Medical Doctor, Envita Medical Centers. In his podcast interview with Ali, who had Lyme disease and was diagnosed six years after she started experiencing symptoms, Dr. Warren explained that the wide variety of symptoms in different patients often make Lyme disease difficult to diagnose.

Even when doctors suspect it, its testing may show false negatives, highlighting the need for detailed diagnostics and an experienced clinical eye. Dr. Warren's team at Envita has over two decades of clinical experience in successfully treating patients with Lyme disease complex, many of whom were manifesting symptoms for years or decades.

Lyme disease is a bacterial infection caused due to a tick-bite, and the Lyme-causing bacteria Borrelia burgdorferi, has a unique ability to penetrate through the blood brain barrier and impact the central nervous system of patients. If Lyme disease is not identified and treated early, then there is a higher risk of its progression, leading to debilitating neurological symptoms like brain fog, memory loss, and neuropathy.

To help such patients with late-stage Lyme, there is an urgent need to go beyond standard antibiotic treatments, typically prescribed for Lyme disease. Referring to the need for custom-developing treatment protocols for each individual patient, based on their unique infectious load, status of the immune system, and other contributing factors aggravating the disease, Dr. Warren said, “It has to be an individualized approach because it's so different for every person.”
