Increasing cancer diagnoses and deaths could be significantly reduced, if screening and prevention are prioritized effectively. “There were about 2 million cases of cancer that were diagnosed last year, and studies show that when you actually do the things to prevent it, it could actually be reduced by 40 percent,” said Dr. John Oertle, Chief Medical Director, Envita Medical Centers. Speaking on a news segment marking National Cancer Prevention Month, Dr. Oertle explained that simple lifestyle changes can greatly reduce the risk of cancer.

His knowledge of cancer risk stems from his vast experience in successfully treating numerous late-stage cancer patients, many of whom were left with limited options. At Envita Medical Centers, Dr. Oertle and his team of specially trained physicians have been practicing the innovative approach of precision integrative oncology. This approach is designed to not only treat the disease but also identify and address the core causes of cancer, in each individual patient. “The treatment that we do really focuses on individual personalized medicine,” he added.

With an in-depth understanding of the core triggers of cancer, Dr. Oertle stated that quitting smoking, reducing alcohol consumption, maintaining a normal BMI, controlling glucose levels, eating healthily, and being an informed consumer, can go a long way in cancer prevention.
