Think Genetics are the Sole Cause of Cancer? Think Again
One in two men and one in three women in the U.S. will develop cancer in their lifetime. Of all those cases, less than 5 percent will present as genetically related. So, what are the causes of the remaining 95 percent? The answer may surprise you. Let's take a look at what some of the most dangerous and surprising links to cancer are.
In fact, there are so many contributing toxins, they would be impossible to address in one article. The Associated Press recently conducted a five-month study in 50 major cosmopolitan cities in all 50 states which showed tainted water supplies from New Jersey to California, affecting at least 41 million Americans.
What Are Our Water Supplies Tainted With?
To begin with, we can find dangerous levels of pharmaceuticals like ibuprofen, caffeine, acetaminophen, mood stabilizers, antibiotics, angina/heart/cholesterol drugs and sex hormones. With our water teeming with such substances, there is little chance that our body can expel them completely at such a high rate. And realistically, there is no way our civil water purification methods are capable of "scrubbing out" these substances. Moreover, the federal and state agencies do not even test for them.
Pharmaceutical Drugs In The Water Supply
Over enough time, research shows that even tiny amounts of these substances can be extremely dangerous. Part of the health risk from these pharmaceuticals comes not only from cumulative exposure, but also from the "kaleidoscope" of chemicals present in the water. It is also possible that these medication cocktails, after digestion and water treatment processing, may take on entirely new metabolic forms. It would be fair to say that there is no way by which to determine such dangers on a large-scale or case-by-case basis with an innumerable number of combinations and conditions possible.
Two Billion Pounds of Pesticides
Not only are we exposed to such toxins in our drinking water, but also through our food supply. More than two billion pounds of pesticides are applied to our food supply each year, which is roughly 10 pounds per person, annually.
Pesticides have been linked to brain and nervous system damage, cancer, disruption of the endocrine and immune system, and a bevy of other toxic effects. Our foods also contain chemical fertilizers, genetically altered seeds, manufactured sweeteners, refined sugars, MSG, artificial colors, hormones, and other toxic food additives or substances. In addition, our air supply can also contain a wide-range of pollutants. Many of these toxins have been linked to cancer.
One of the Biggest Factors are Infections that Cause Epigenetic Changes
Infections can weaken a patient's immune system and cause cancer all in one blow. Infections as a cancer-causing agent have been well established for some time. These infections (bacterial, viral or possibly even fungal) can cause genetic mutations that bring about uncontrolled cell growth or cancer. Epigenetic shifts occur when outside irritants, such as infections or chemical carcinogens, bring about actual genetic changes to our own personal genetic codes.
Here is a list of just some of the infections and the cancers they've been linked to: Helicobacter Pylori to stomach cancer; Hepatitis C to liver cancer; Epstein Barr to Lymphoma; Human Papilloma Virus to cervical cancer; Herpes Virus VI to brain cancer.
Patients are often not even tested for these infections, which means the underlying problem continues to go untreated and the patients' immune systems remain weak. At Envita, we have found active untreated tick-borne infections in many cancer patients, such as Borrelia and Ehrlichia.
According to the Journal of American Medical Association, infections contribute to about 20% of all cancers, yet the medical community as a whole is only aware of about 13% of the infections found worldwide. How many tumor-causing infections are we unaware of
How Do You Protect Yourself From the Causes of Cancer?
Carcinogens are virtually everywhere, so it would be nearly impossible to completely avoid exposure. That being said, there are ways to minimize it; and cancer nutrition is among one of the best pathways to significant detoxification.
Drinking purified water is essential to reducing toxic exposure. Purchasing a water system for your house eliminates a majority of the undesirable substances and pollutants. Air purification systems are also a good investment for the home. And, when buying food, be sure to read the labels. Usually, the longer the list of ingredients on the label is, the more likely you are to ingest artificial substances.
Buying organic foods will dramatically reduce your pesticide exposure. Look for meat and milk that is free of antibiotics or hormones. When buying meat, look for labels that indicate that the animals were grass-fed. It is also wise to avoid farm-raised fish. Avoiding toxins can greatly improve immune function by freeing up the body to fight infection and disease, rather than exhaustively attempting to rid us of carcinogens.
Minimizing exposure to these toxins, eliminating them from the body through detoxification, and boosting immune system function through immunotherapy, are all crucial elements of cancer prevention and care. Envita Medical Centers offer a wide spectrum of such treatments to address these important components. To learn more, contact Envita today. We're happy to answer any questions you have.
