Dr. John Oertle of Envita Medical Centers Interviewed by Cure™ on Advancements in Cancer Care

Lack of access to personalized precision oncology could mean the difference between life and death for cancer patients. Speaking to Cure™ on World Cancer Day, Dr. Oertle, Chief Medical Director, Envita Medical Centers, said, “It is a matter of getting access to the actual technology, and it's being able to have coverage for the technology, which is proving to be very lifesaving, giving patients a lot more options to be able to have better outcomes with their cancer.”

Dr. Oertle and his team of specially trained physicians have been utilizing an innovative precision integrative oncology, which has demonstrated a 35-fold improvement in response rates, as published by peer-reviewed research. He explained that such optimistic outcomes have been the result of customized treatment protocols for each individual patient, based on a detailed analysis of their genetics, transcriptomics, proteomics, immune status, and multiple other factors. This in-depth approach of gathering information about the root causes of cancer in each individual patient can prove to be a gamechanger in cancer care, but unfortunately not every patient gets access to it.

“There's [the barrier of getting] access to the labs to be able to have the fullest of data, to be able to make decisions based upon [that]. If you do that, then the other challenge that goes along with it is how to get coverage for the cost of the actual care for cancer treatment,” added Dr. Oertle. To break these barriers and help every cancer patient benefit from the latest advancements in precision oncology while reducing their costs, the Envita team also partners with employer groups.
