Lyme Disease Survivor - Mara's Envita Review
Mara's healthy and fast-paced lifestyle came to a standstill as she was unable to walk, or even talk coherently, due to Lyme disease. “I was slurring my words and had lost my orientation completely. I was in a really dark place,” said Mara Lucato, who came to Envita Medical Centers in Scottsdale, Arizona, all the way from Ontario, Canada, to get treated for this tick-borne disease and reclaim her life.

Lyme's Aggravating Symptoms
“I was proud of my physicality, intelligence, and eloquence... but unfortunately, all that got ripped away from me,” lamented Mara, whose symptoms started showing suddenly with her inability to remember where she was when she woke up one morning. She experienced immense body pain and joint aches, some of the typical symptoms of Lyme disease, which made it difficult for her to continue with her fitness regimens, like running and yoga.
With time her symptoms aggravated further causing skin lesions and three transient ischemic stroke attacks. “There were no answers, I was on all kinds of medication, and nothing was helping,” said Mara helplessly.
Difficulty in Finding an Accurate Diagnosis
She felt frustrated as her undiagnosed and untreated Lyme disease kept aggravating, causing more pain to her. Lyme disease may be difficult to diagnose with standard healthcare blood tests like Elisa and Western Blot, which is why at Envita, we use proprietary testing technology called PathoDNA. This test not only detects the bacteria, causing Lyme disease, much more accurately than standard tests, but it also identifies other accompanying pathogens, which may include co-infections and secondary infections.
Lyme Disease Affects Brain, if Left Untreated
Lack of accurate diagnosis allows the bacteria to spread unchecked, penetrating through the blood-brain barrier to affect the patient's brain and central nervous system. At this stage, patients like Mara, experience several neurological and psychological symptoms like memory fog, stroke, and depression. To address their problem, we use proprietary treatments like IRAD (Insulin Receptor Antibiotic Delivery) which can shuttle antibiotics and customized immunotherapy medications across the blood-brain barrier to treat several of the most debilitating Lyme disease symptoms.
Proprietary Treatments, Personalized for Each Patient
Oral antibiotics cannot pass through the blood brain barrier, which is why we deliver them intravenously along with several other personalized immunotherapy medications. We personalize care for each patient depending on their unique infectious load, revealed through our proprietary testing. The advanced immunotherapy medications, custom-compounded at our in-house pharmacy, helps in killing and flushing out the pathogens and their toxins, leading to a holistic recovery. “They individualize the care across the board, and they look at all things that are ailing you,” said Mara, summing up her experience at Envita Medical Centers, as she feels strong enough to hike again and resume her fitness routine.
Her Envita Medical Centers Connection
Mara owes her newfound health to her 81-year-old mother, who knew about Envita's specialized treatments over the past two decades. On her insistence, she researched and reached out to us. “I felt validated,” said Mara, as she realized that the doctors and the team here understood her, a rare experience for most Lyme disease patients who struggle to explain their problems to inexperienced doctors. Now, Mara is gearing up to get back to her fast-paced lifestyle because she feels that our powerful treatments have “healed her soul, heart, and head.”
